I've built a system and was wondering what type of Windows 7 I'd need? I've seen one's specifically marketed at System Builders. I'm only after Home Premium 64bit btw. Seem's about £80 is the going rate, is that right?

You're probably thinking OEM, but you need to purchase it with hardware (i've seen people place orders for OEM Windows along with a £5 mouse and it goes through). Otherwise it's retail, which comes in a shiny box, manuals and i believe both x86/x64 discs.

Alternative is to pirate and remove the WAT

Pirate and use a loader, removing WAT doesn't work for everything anymore (as of a few weeks ago when I re-installed, could have been an update)

It's one of the updates that does a key check. I'm running RemoveWAT on a system and it updates fine (i've just hidden that particular KB).

Nath - Yeah that's OEM. But i'm 99% sure that you have to order hardware with OEM licenses.

Oh really? Would would happen if I were to just order it on it's own, would they contact me or something? Is there actually any different between that and retail? I actually missed the OEM bit in the title

Any version you get in your hands will work exactly the same (OEM etc, obviously ultimate has some extra features).

I (or rather my company) can order OEM/system builder versions of stuff without having to buy hardware at the same time as we offer refurb PCs. Pretty sure I can get the OEM cheaper than eBuyer as well with one of our suppliers.

I got hold of OEM easy enough when I built a PC.

I've bought OEM McAfee off the internet before without buying anything else.

Retail you get a manual, two CDs (both x86/x64 versions) and the license sticker. OEM is just one version CD and sticker.
