my... you would make a good detective.
and yea the belt would have to be on for my method to work, and the engine would need to be in the car so all in all - MY BAD!

how did you get the belt off without taking the bottom cover off the engine?

he didnt he just took drop it off the cambelt pulleys!

In fact its possible the cams are out in which case it wont have done it any damage

should imagine if he's putting the belt back on that the cams are also back in.

You cant lock the gearbox with the engine out the car, as the diff will just turn.
Remove the gearbox and lock the fly. Tho you'll need a big tyre lever or something to do it.
I bent 2 large screwdrivers when undoing mine... A 3ft tyre lever did the trick.

Tho if you've took the belt off the cam sprockets without the crank pully off, i wouldn't risk turning it over/starting it, as the belt may have jumped a tooth on the crank sprocket, which you cant see with the cover on!

the engine is in top condition. There has been no damage caused to it. And even If there was any bent valves like you have suggested then i would of course offer the buyer a full refund. He has my contact number and address and knows to get hold of me.

So have you been turning the engine over with the cams in but withouth the cambelt on?
