would it be louder (without distortion, I hate distortion), to buy an amp to power the 2 speakers on the shelf then, or to buy 2 more speakers that are 600w and not 525w like i currently have.

also, the 200w rms speakers, how loud can you get in RMS with 6x9 speakers?

as long as the amp is equal in rms power or slightly more to the speakers, and that the speakers have a high db rating

i use an amp on my shelf speakers and its fine, i have vibe 69.2 ones

so I should get an amp with a 525W or higher rating? As that is what my current speakers are at, obviously, the higher Watt, the better, as you get more RMS per speaker after ohms is chucked in the equation. Also, would be head unit, only being 45Wx4 effect the quality of audio I can get? I know some units produce 60wx4 or even x5 but most are 50wx4. Does that mean, I can only get 100w for 2 speakers, from my head unit, when it's capable of producing 525w? If so, I need an amp baaad! lol

I just had a quick online search, went through a few websites and such and found theloudest.com, looked at their 6x9 speakers and they offer a 2000w, 350w RMS speakers @4ohms for £199, I'm amazed that speakers can go that loud! Anyway, they seem worth getting tbh, I might have to get some instead of an amp...also, another quick online search, found them for £80 instead of £200...quite a discount!

you will need an amp for them to get that loud, after all the only power they will recieve atm is from your 4 x 45 watt rms headunit, so you will need an amp for 350 watts, the power is not generated within the speakers, thats just the power they can handle

Yes, I see. So this 2000w amp is good for them, yes?

but if I used that amp on my 525w (175w RMS) speakers that I currently have, 4ohms, it would most definitely blow them?

well I've posted a wanted ad for an amp at least 600w in power for my current speakers, then I will get the new speakers, then after that, a new head unit, then another amp. Should hopefully be able to afford the new speakers + new amp at the end of the month
