What wires have you joined from the Corsa loom
plug to the XE loom plug?

It'd be easier if it was in front of me to diagnose lol

Archie, the loom we're using was pulled from a corsa conversion that was (aparently) working. The EML comes on with ignition, which makes me think the ECU is getting power. If that single black wire with the odd plug on the end of it is meant to be ECU ignition live, then where is it meant to be wired to? Just straight onto the battery or is it meant to be chased back into the car?

alan-g-w, Generation was assuming you meant read the codes via the Corsa paperclip method (whcih doesnt work in his car as he doesnt have the pins in the ODB connector). There is no reason why we cant read the codes off using the method you have said. Can i just ask though, shouldnt the EML be flashing or on constantly or something if there is a fault registered? The EML appears to be acting normally.

Thanks for all the replies, very helpful.

Feed it into the cabin and it should go to the car loom iirc.

Best bet is to get a picture of the wirin loom inside the footwell, where the interior loom would plug into the engine loom, 9 wires or whatever it is.

Archie, that single black cable is extremely short though, it literally pops out of the loom insulation and is 2-3" long, and its right by the fuel rail/injector loom.

I can get photos of the wiring inside the car, the ecu and that, i've only had a quick look at it, as it was done by someone who is aparently a qualified electricial. I'm not a qualified electrician, I'm an electronic hobbyist and to be honest I could do it better. Lol. From what i remember from my quick look its mostly colour to colour, but of course i will get same pics.

Or at least get generation to get pics, the car is over 40min drive from me, and i have to go through dartford crossing to get to it lol... Just want it to work now.

The wire has to be extended remember the loom layout will be different in a cav/astra.

The conversion harness twag makes up has a long black wire that runs into the engine bay, with a plug that would fit into the plug pictured

The wiring really is a piece of piss on an XE, fair enough i was a mechanic for 5/6 years but it should just be a case of matching the wires to the corsa loom (you may have 2/ left dependant on what the car was originally)

And aye your right it is color for color.

I'm almost certain that black wire is the one i extended into the cabin for my ECU live.

Recently sold mine or i'd be able to tell you for definate.

If it came out a converted car,you shouldnt need to extend the wire.Should have already been done.

Run a wire to the red or black ignition live wire picture loose above to get the fuel pump relay to work fine... (Some looms don't have this plug)

Depends who done the loom, maybe it was extended from the footwell out.

Very good thinking. Since this is going all way to footwell live, can I not just connect to battery?
