a year since i did this time flies
anyway, decided to take advantage of B&Q's BOGOF on plants offer so last week i used and abused the other halfs fiesta picking up some tree's/bamboo plants and compost.
i've always liked my privacy whilst in the garden and felt a bit uncomfortable with next door being able to see in my garden so clearly (crap fencing). i also love plants for some weird reason.
so i got to work on digging up some of my year old grass. the patch was 26'x3' or thereabouts. not very easy to do on your own when the ground is bone dry and it was touching 28c in the sun
dug out and replaced with a mixture of miracle grow/ericacious/cheapo compost:
had 10 bags of soil/grass to take to the dump (again, missus wasn't happy at the state of her car when one of the bags split in the boot )
plants to go in (golden bamboo, acer, acer, red robin, acer, acer, golden bamboo, in that order).
you can see what i mean about the neighbours here:
planted:
got some border so it didn't look so odd (replaced the log border at the bottom so it goes all the way around):
and our buddha's.
nothing much. but it was a lot of work just to plant some trees.
and finally, some panoramic fancy pics:

tree's aren't 20 foot high when they're first planted
we have a crab apple tree i planted last may and it's only now 5 foot tall. takes years to get big.
