What different belts will I have on my engine? When I start my engine I get a squealing noise, till it's warmed up a bit, I'm guessing a belt needs tightening/replacing? It's an X14XE. Cheers

i also think its the alternator belt.
does it sound like the belt is slipping? it may need tighting. if its whining, maybe its too tight.
just out of curiousity, when did u last change the cam/timing belt?

You have to copy and paste the link into address bar, sorry. It's a squealing noise. Dunno if cam belt has ever been changed, not since I've had it anyway. It's done 40,000 miles.

change it next week!!! othervise might be very expensive headwork ahead... over 1000£ if its bad....
mean that if the cambelt brokes, its done... its relatively cheap to get it changed, dont save there...

Alternator will be on the left mate not right as all belts are on the left, and I would perosnally say it is your alternator belt, I too have this problem, I changed my belt and it still makes the noise but only when cold, do you guys reckonm I should tighten it?
