I seem to remember that the 13 in F13 means that the box will take 130lb/ft of torque

assume this is true for the rest of them ie. F15 will be stronger and can take up to 150lb/ft of torque

sure someone will correct me on this if wrong

dont think so fella, if it did fit then the ratios would be all wrong!!

Your looking at an F10 or F13 for a 1.2 16v

No, there are 2 'series' of boxes.

From what i can remember, the F10, 13 and 15 are from the small block family. The F16 upwards are from the big block series.

The 2 arnt interchange able, so no, a 1.2 8v cudnt have an F20 fitted. Even if it could, it wud be extremely slow!!

The 10/13/15 etc stands for the amount of torque the box can take (100/130/150lb respectively).

The number after it denotes the number of gears, and the CR/WR after that, depict whether it is close or wide ratio's.

ie: F20/5CR is the 5 speed box fitted to the 2.0 engines, in close ratio form. At maximum, it could handle 200lb/torque.

I believe there is also a separate code that goes after the normal codes, to denote whether the box is FWD/RWD or 4WD, but i dont know it.

F16/F20 gearboxes are only used on big block vauxhall engines, so an F20 will not fit a 1.2
