think these are making alot of noise from my engine (1.2 8v) are they worth replacing and how much would it cost, could i do it myself or a garage need to do it. i no fuck all bout engines really

y dont u try and source an SRI engine from an astra, i got a 1.4 8v sri supplied and fitted for £450

as for the lifters try ur local motor parts when mines were noisy i put something in the engine and it made them quieter

put a pint of gear oil in that will quiten them down

You can clean them, but taking them out is a paim.

Try and oil flush and change first though.

noisy hydrolic lifters are usualy caused by 2 things:

1 u have a lack of oil, so go and check ur level first

2nd, there worn, hense they will tap, so ull have to go and get new 1s if u dont want that anoying sound, and i know, mine tap its bloody anoying

i no it aint the oil cause i check it regularly. i have no money so cant afford to get a new engine.
does the tapping lose me any of the little power i have or is it just gonna annoy me??

No power loss, but u'll probably find the tapping a bit annoying...

From vauxhall they're about £16 each from what I can remember, cos I needed a whole new set on my 2.0 16v last summer.

Cleaning them can work well. They get clogged up and dont fill up with oil as well. You'll see if any of the springs are broken when you clean them.
