Forgive me as i'll try and get a Haynes next week but I really need to change the altenator on my C20XE corsa. IS it possible to remove it without removing the driveshaft? Anyone who has done this I REALLY appreciate a step by step instuction. Obviously it just bolts on, and there's your usual wiring but how do you set the tension of the belt? I know there was a spring tensioner on my old X12XE engine that did it all for you but how's it done on this lump?
Any help much appreciated - Tom

LOL yeah im assuming it will be a hell of a job!! Just want to know if its ACTUALLY possible to get out with my shaft where it is...
I suppose I could undo the lower ball joint and swing the shaft from side to side but hoping I dont even need to do that.

i took about 2 hours to get the one off my c16xe
tryed to get out out the bottom but the exhaust and the drive shaft got right in to way..
then it got stuck in there..
finally got it out the side wear the airbox is there was just enough room but my manztel got in the way a bit to...
i can only imagine how hard it is on a c20xe lump....

Cheers Lee, so people think it'll come out the top? I'll lever it with my big pry bar, i'll get working on this soon as possible, I dont think the electrical system is enjoying 15.5V and cant last very long like it...
