Okay i am running a USB ADSL modem, i also have an ethernet card, which as explained on the ps2 website i can connect online using ICS, but instead of a CAT5 cable i will need to use a Crossover cable, but why, whats different with the cables, they still have RJ45 connectors on both ends :/

yeah, thats great mate

but why do they need to crossover, why cant i use a straight through cable? its ok i take it you dont know

Yes, there's a pair of wires and they're crossed over.
You will indeed need a crossover cable. These are still Cat5 btw, the other cables are called patch cables.

They crossover because they're for using when connecting computers to other computers/nodes. It's to do with input/output. Hubs and switches use patch cables because that's just how they're made.

Same connector, but one pair of wires is the other way round inside.

i can buy a crossover adapter, as thats what i have, i straight cable with an adapter on the end to crossover

A crossover reverses the transmit and receive wires.
