When I used to do the paperclip test is was giving of the fault of the air flow meter, I cleaned the airflow meter with petrol and it solved the problem for a day. Now the car is doing the exact same thing but has no fault codes
When looking under the bonnet you can get a better idea. where the throttle cable pulls on the inlet, if its pulled a little it will rev fine all the way round, but if its pulled more you can see it opens something towards the back of the inlet (whats this?) then thats when it bets the problems and it just dies and stops reving and nearly cuts out.
Please help.

it will still be your air flow meter probably need to replace it mate

try changing your potentioneometer or whoever its spelt.. and make sure its secure.. small black thing with a plug going in on the left hand side of the throttle body

I cleaned the insides with it, petrol is good for cleaning anything gunged up in the engine

Thats why you dont spray carb cleaner inot he inlet before the AFM or it fucks it up
