OK, i've got the new series of soprano's and it comes to just under 4.5 gig. As a data file these fit on a DVD fine but how can I burn them to DVD so that they will play on a DVD player? I've seen it done with Lost and 24 episodes on a few DVD's but don't know how you do it? Google wasn't much help either

Seeing as the files are compressed already you shouldn't have a problem burning them onto DVD for DVD player playback...

Doesn't really matter how compressed the files are.

It depends on how long they are and what quality the dvd software converts them to.

In a program like nero vision you just choose what quality you want it converted at and it shows how much you can fit on disc.

I've got Nero 7 but I can only seem to fit 120 min's on. I'll have to give it another try and see if i can change the quality settings from the default.

In nero vison, when you are at the screen to add movies to the dvd, click more then you should see video options, it's in there.

45min files, 180mins i suppose.

But if it's already compressed the file can't be made bigger again

Yes it can.

How compressed it is has nothing to do with what size it is on the dvd.

The quality however will not get any better than in the original.

I could have a very compressed file from a phone and still burn it to the dvd at the maximum quality i could.

Audio and Video is burnt differently to CD/DVD's than it is as a Data CD - hence why its calculated as time instead of MB/GB's, ie: single layer DVD is 120mins, CDs 60-90mins etc

Not had any complaints from anyone with WinAVI, with Nero Vision everything i burnt was lagged. WinAVI has been fine with everything i've made with it.

The couple of people i burn stuff for have had no complaints either.

From the programs i've used, it's the best in way of fitting stuff on a disc, with least loss of quality.
