Hi there. Bought my corsa sri (m) middle of august this year. its done 43k and when i bought it my dad noticed there was a tiny leakage from the gearbox (oil). As far as I know it hasnt got any worse (although i do have very little mechanical knowledge) but is there any quickfix or patch up thats possible? I dont have any pics because im at uni and the car is with my GF atm but if it helps you can see it by looking into the engine bay with the bonnet up, you dont need to get underneath to find it
Cheers

it will be from the driveshaft seals (£4 each) or the coverplate gasket. more likely to be the driveshaft seals though.

im guessing to repair it the gearbox needs taking out? or can it be done from inside the engine bay? now youve said that im obviously thinking labour costs

takes 20 mins per side so an hours labour to do both.
wheel off
lower arm disconnected
driveshaft out
old seal out
new seal in
reassemble
do other side
top up gearbox fluid

i know without pics you cant tell but you reckon that could definetly be it? if u cant be sure i will endeavour to get some pics (somehow lol) cos if its that simple it will be done before the gearbox gets fucked

they perish. might be them as they are the most common cause, would be easy to tell, look at the g.box where the shafts go in, see if theres gold coloured oil around them. that area should be dusty and dry otherwise.
both mine leak and have done for months, only when the car warms up and I give it a bit of stick though. never drips at all on the drive.

All I know is that mine leaked for about a month, not a huge amount..
Then one day the gearbox chucked the driveshaft out on the motorway.. Towed it home, hammered it back in and havn't had a problem since.. lol
