erm..... what other damage apart from internals would occur?

after getting my engine in and running in in for ages, whenever i get the chance to drive it hard...it seems to want to be hitting the limiter evry gear (maybe not 5th)
what am i likely to screw up?

Well i was like that with my x14xe and that's why i'm having to change the engine as my bottom end sounds like it's full or gravel!!! But that's from revving harder the limiter itself won't damage anything but the high revs will.

6.8krpm is the rev limit, in that cause get the rev limit raised to 7.5/7.8krpm

the limiter is there so nothing happens,

but yout peak power with a manztel will be up near that, raised limiter with some decent cams should see some nice gains i would have thought

in some cases the sprung tensioner is replaced with a solid roller, a shortened belt is then used, and the tension is achieved via the waterpump.

whats the best way of raising the limiter? (by best i mean cheapest) L30 SCT mentioned dastek make a paggyback unit for around £40???

theres no need for the solid roller to replace the tensioner........i thinks its mainly used to re-route the belt for an oil pump (dry sumps etc).....

so dastek dont make a piggy back module?

there has to be a roller im sure - otherwise it would run on the camcover!

is there any need tho, im sure the standard tensioner is up to the job?

not sure about a the piggy back ecu

standard tensione ris fine unless you go for stiffer valve springs and 8k+ rev limit.

SBD do a fixed tensioner, you adjust cam belt tesion on the waterpump. standard belt cover wont fit if you go with fixed tensioner. the Idea behind it is that with a sprung tensioner and uprated valve springs the tensioner can whip back when you come off the belt and cause the belt to jump. Only ever heared of 1 case of this though on a 1600 with an 11k limit and solid lifters, double valve springs and 300+ degree cams.

your better getting it mapped before raising the rev limit just incase it starts running lean at high rpm.
