get a few copies of what hifi and read around forums like avforums.co.uk etc

Really depends on your budget though, for around the 300/500 quid mark i would look at some B&W 601/600/603 or 800 series, or some A&E's.
A little less, i would look at some second hand older Mission's, 761i SE's (bookshelf, pick them up for 50 quid), floor standing 752's, 734, newer 774.

But you need to beable to drive them with a half decent signal, so no point running them off a cacky sony/goodmans/bush stereo etc

still not sure about mordaunts, always were shit about 10 years ago, though they have come a long way since. But i wouldn't pay anywhere near the money there asking for those, certainly a lot better stuff out there like monitor audios, quad, spendor, Kefs do a pretty good range of speakers (even there in ceiling stuff are good) for similar money.

Tbh, for a decent cinema (or classical music) setup you're better off going for flat-response speakers (studio speakers) over hi-fi stuff, like adams, KRKs, genelec's, mackies etc, as you get the sound that was originally attended/recorded rather than a nice "smile" (boosted bottom and top end) filter being placed all over it.

sod Harman Kardon's, overated to buggery. Yet to have a decent listen on a set of speakers i will admit, but from what i have heard and read about they certainly aren't worth the cash, same as Bang & Olufsen, just more overpriced shite
