That chip he listed can easily be overclocked to 3ghz+ on air cooling

Thats true, it used to be all AMD but Intel are back in the loop now when it comes to better CPU's.

Very much correct..... however I think double the L2 cache on a Conroe core will be of benefit.

It depends what he is using the PC for.
He wont really see much benefit of the double cache unless video editing etc.

Ahh, building a computer. Made my own a year and bit back, cost me £1k including the monitor, only worth £400 odd now
