I think i'm going to get rid of the Corsa in the next few weeks. I'm thinking of getting something bigger and more powerful, and have been looking at Mondeo 1.8 and 2.0 Zetecs. Anyone know how reliable the engines are or if there are any known problems in general?

Apparently that was only on the earlier Zetecs, later ones had the design of the tappets changed or something.

Zetecs make more power per litre, the 1.8 makes the same power as the 2 litre ECOTEC, but the Vauxhall would have more torque.

Watch the oil in the Zetec engines. Check it every other day they are prone to burning oil, without sign, and dodgy oil pressure lights especially in the Fiesta's. I'd go with Ecotec.

Different Zetec there Dean, that's the Zetec SE which isn't a Ford engine really, it's a Yamaha one.
The Ford ones don't burn oil too much
