yep, well i fitted a new cambelt kit to mine in less than 1 hour, which included pressing new bearings into the idlers and a test drive
waterpumps simple with the belt off.

I'd never done a cambelt before and my mate decided we shoudl give it a go. It's easy enough, but the belt can be a bitch to get back on. Just make sure it's all timed up correctly and turn it over by hand before starting it up.

You don't need a locking tool

How do I go about making sure its correctly timed in?

With the timing marks.
EDIT - It is easier with a locking tool. But, first time I did it I didn't use one. It was still easy to do.

the 8v's are more of a bugger, as you may have to adjust them using the waterpump aswell as the tensioner

Didn't loosen my water pump at all
just got the belt slipped part way over each of teh pulleys and turned the engine over by hand, which in turned pulled the belt all the way on

A locking tool is handy, as i found on mine that one of the cams doesn't want to sit at tdc and will either stay before tdc, or after.
So it can be a bit tricky without one.

this 1hour, include unveiling my press from the back of the garage, and pressing 2 new bearings in...and a quick roadtest
i think i could do it quicker if i cut the wing off my car tho
