as title .......

Looked at some shift lights on the internet and they seem pricey considering how basic they are.

Can they be DIY made with a shopping list from maplins?

Ive seen it somewhere before, iirc you just put a contact where peak power is on the rev counter, and another contact on the needle, when it connects, light comes on.

you just need to make a small circuit few resistors and a capacitor i think and connect it to the rev counter feed. set it with a variable resistor. its been a while since i did and electronics. i will try find what im on about

Itll be something to do with a capacitor - when the rev feed hits a certain amount of volts the lights some on!

That sounds simple enough, obviously it would have to be the right rating

I have a shift light

When it comes on i know i've done bad

Pow's spot on, a capacitor that when hits a certain voltage comes on.

Mine works with a variable resistor so you can change when it comes on, whether its at the red line or just under for safety

surely it would be a risistor in the +ve to the light....
which stops resisting at the required voltage
