i usa chap told me this about that i dont need to change my modem black one i should keep it and hook it up to a router is this normal at all this is what he said ???
Your post was a little hard to follow but I think I can help you out.
The first link is your ADSL modem, this is not a router and does not need to be replaced. You would purchase the router you indicated and connect your modem to this.
So, your ADSL/phone line will connect to your modem, the modem will connect to the router, and then the router will connect to both your PC and your PS3 through separate wiring.
Let me know if I completely misunderstood what you meant...
It all depends on what you get. The first link is just a modem, the third link LOOKS LIKE just a router so you would need both if I am seeing it correctly. The modem descrambles the signal of your ADSL, the router "routes" the decoded signal to your PC/PS3/other devices via the Ethernet cable.
does everybody do this have a modem and a router seperate or can you get a all in one??

you can get an all in one, easier get a wireless one if your going to buy one any way.
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3424330/Netgear-WGR614-54Mbps-Wireless-Adsl-Cable-Router-+-WG111-54Mbps-USB-Adaptor/Product.html
thats all you need.

btw just to clarify that is a wireless router with built in modem, you simply connect the wire coming from your telephone line ( which is currently connected to your current modem) into the back of the router i posted then connect the ps3 and whatever else into the back of the router via ethernet.
might as get wireless now, you dont have to use it or even turn it on but it makes sense to buy wireless as you can use it in the future if you want.
so in short the router i posted is very good quality and is all you need to hook up your ps3 and pc to the net, and will give you the option to go wireless in the future .
hope that helps.

yeah the one i posted is an all in one, it just meens the router and modem are in one box basically no need for a seperate modem and router.
yeah netgear is very easy to set up, it will have 4 ethernet ports on the back and yes as long as your broadband is through the phone line it will work 100%.

the link you gave me is just a router its not an all in one, so it would only work with the modem you have now if the modem has an ethernet connection as it wont work though usb.
tbh your best off shelling out the extra pennies and getting the all in one netgear mate.

yeah just buy the one from the link i gave you mate, there will be cheaper ones on ebay but your best bet is to get a new one with a warranty if you dont really know what your looking for.
just buy the one from the link i gave you, if you dont like it you can always return it within 30 days but it should work great with your ps3.
hope it works out for you fella.
