Any ideas on the above?
My coolant was really low last week, have been topping it up regularly since. My oil is a creamy sort of colour just now, and on cold starts my engine sounds like it's almost missfiring (for around 30 secs or so) before it starts to run properly (non-lumpy)
Could this be the head gasket? Or possibly oil seals or something?
Thanks

Depends if you know a mechanic really,
Mine went on my old corsa, parts were about £200 (with good discount), and paid a mate £200 to do it all. Plus £100 to get the head skimmed.

I ended up buying headbolts, valves, water pump and timing belt too, so wouldn't be £200 for parts.

sorry to highjack your thread but is it better to check for milky goo under the oil cap when the engines hot or cold?

Cheers man, I've got a mechanic friend who will maybe do it this week...do you if the head has to be skimmed? Or does it not always have to be?

Not entirely sure mate, but why not check when cold..then let it warm up for a bit, then check again

My mechanic mate has given me a decent price to do the head gasket, if I supply the parts. Was just thinking gasket kit and water pump, anything else that really should be replaced for piece of mind?
