What new icon are you talking about?
Oh and the media centre for PS3 is flawless. If you're having a problem it's down to user error...

On the PS3 XMB dashboard?
Go to Windows Media Player, and click the little arrow below "Library" -- then go to "Media Sharing..." and allow the PS3 device full rights.

So why won't it work when I've followed the exact instructions on how to do it?
I did the same with Xbox and it worked straight away.

So your PS3's wireless is working flawlessly is it?
Nope -- user error!
Your PS3 is too far away from the router, or something is blocking it. It's all well and good saying "Oh the 360 can do it!" but no-where does it say that the PS3 has to better the 360 in every department. You pay £60 for a wireless adapter for the 360 -- it's free with the PS3. Some wireless network cards would put the 360 to shame in terms of reliability and distance. That doesn't mean the 360's wireless is crap.
It could simply be that your router is blocking certain ports used by the PS3 -- it could be anything. I assure you I could get it working in minutes if I tried to fix it.
Remind me when I'm next round yours and I'll prove it's user error and make you apologise for questioning me.

Have you allowed it full rights in Windows Media Player? Any firewalls? Software or hardware firewalls... Ports opened? Within good distance of the router?
