I think that maybe an idea!

edit: then again I can secure it, just not in the fully down correct position - the adjuster on it has knackered itself stuck

Well my mate recenty went through with no seats and ill be doing the same in september. Not a long job and could be worth doing if you recon youll fail the test otherwise.

too much like hard work! been looking for a replacement seat but no such luck
have also tried booting it lol - not working either haha, as a temporary measure I unbolted the part that holds it to the chassis. Going to bolt it back in and hope for the best...

Take em out and the seatbelts too. Some won't bother but others will fail it for having the seatbelts but no seats

really? thats kinda sad.... lol I don't really have the time to fuss with the seat belt, anyhow i've bolted the seat back down, its obvious its knackered but if it fails, it'll have to get repaired which needs doing anyway lol. Tried giving it a good boot but no luck

Following on from this - how would both the belt and clip of the seatbelts have to be removed if there was no back seats in order to pass an MoT?

little update on this, simply left it bolted up and it passed the mot shockingly - anyhow, went to vaux the other day picked up the parts to repair it and it took me all of an hour to do and £18.74 to buy the parts so its all working now. As B3KAN said, letting someone sit on it is dangerous so I've fixed it and then theres no guilty conscience and all is as it should be.

How did you manage to secure the seats for the test in the end?

Well the lock was just stuck in place, so I just bolted the part that anchors it to the chassis back up and left the seat sticking up in a dodgy angle and it passed :S
