hi im hoping someone can help me out here.
Been having problems recently with my corsa (redtop) It has been becoming increasingly difficult to change gears while driving (sticks in gear and wont come out/in neutral and wont select gears) and also continues to move when i have the clutch pedal to the floor if im waiting in traffic or at lights if i dont have foot on brake So i adjust the bush thing on the clutch cable and that sorts the problem for a week or so then i encounter the same problems and need to repeat the process
Can anyone shed any light on the problem as to what might be fooked as its really starting to do my head in.
cheers kev

Is the cable wound all the way(on the adjuster?)
Sounds like the cables old and keeps stretching.

So just a new clutch cable is needed?
I have the same problem, except it doesnt roll in traffic as such, just starts crunching into gear

The corsa i had used to do it every so often(wouldn't go into gear without crunching), adjusted the cable so the pedal sat higher off the floor, and it was fine.
(The clutch isnt fully dis-engaging, hence its hard get into gear, and the clutch is still biting slightly even with the clutch pressed down.....)

its not wound all the way up the adjuster, maybe an inch or two left before i cant wind it any further.
i know this may sound like a silly question but could this effect the perfromance of the car any as i had a bit sport the other night with what i got told was a 16 sport corsa and a fiesta zetec and didnt like the outcome very much lol.......couldnt keep up with them

Mine started moving slightly + wouldnt go in gear unless you phiscally threw it in...

Yea a nut as Phil says or some loctite. mine did this as well. Can become annoying. IIRC there is meant to be a clip which goes on the thread to stop this form happening but they break easily and there fore has probably fallen off

Not really any point diving in straight away and changine the clutch, try the easiest things first like re adjusting it and marking the threads to see if the nut is slipping

ment to ask as well. will a standard clutch be more than enough to cope with a redtop that is running throttle bodies?
