Hi Guys - Seen this forum on a few local cars and thought i'd drop in.
I have a problem with a car i just bought, and its really a pain in the backside!
I bought a 2000 'W' Plate Corsa Sport 1.4 16v a few days ago, with a fault.
The car was driven fine, passed its MOT, Driven for a few days, then conked out and never started again.
I've since realised that the coilpack was unplugged!
I plugged it back in and the car now runs but appears to be almost misfiring.
I've replaced the coilpack, Leads, Plugs, and its still exactly the same!
The car was running perfectly before breaking down, as i bought from a mate i know pretty well.
Its idling funny, seems unusually loud, and lacks power, it takes a couple of seconds to get any response from the throttle and then it pulls, but still not very well.
The revs go up, and the noise is awful, very loud.
Its running a PiperX Filter, Standard exhaust, and passed its MOT with flying colours, no emissions problems or anything like that!
Really weird problem, and my RAC diagnostics won't read the car for some reason, it just comes up with link error.
The Engine Managment light is also on if that helps.
Cheers

Might go to the scrappy in a minute, and steal some sensors.
The air temp sensor is disconnected too as there's a broken wire - Can't see that causing this problem though?

broken wires usually cause strange problems

car will need the air temp&coolant temp sensors to help with fueling, crank sensor for spark, and cam sensor for injectors... How loud is the noise? And is it coming from the front (exhaust manifold side) or rear (inlet manifold side) as it could be something like inlet manifold gasket has blown...

My Temp guage doesn't work properly..
Could that sensor be half of it?
It wasn't plugged in properly yesterday so i plugged it in and it started working..
Now it doesn't seem to move by more than about 2mm!
I took it to vauxhall earlier, who sent me away with a little more knowledge and no charge for plugging it in.
There were so many codes where things aren't right or have been messed with, they said sort all little bits and take it back..
I've today taken the PiperX off, which was actually drawing air in through a hole i hadn't seen, replaced with a std airbox, Fixed the air temp sensor wire, Cleaned a couple of bits up, changed the fuel filter..
It sounds a bit better but thats just now the filters off tbh..
Vauxhall also advised that its a misfire on Cylinder 2 according to their machine, so i'm progressively getting somewhere, I think.
I'm thinking perhaps a dodgy injector?
I can gt some injectors from a Tigra with the same engine (Visually the same and sensors all seem the same anyway...) at a local Scrappy, Thats where the airbox etc came from today.
Hope this makes a little more sense to people!

Not sure if its a possibility also, but CAT?
I've known them collapse and cause lacks in power etc?

why not just fix all the problems that were shown with the fault codes? it needs to be diagnosed other wise its just a case of trying new sensors etc, this takes agers to do as i have found it, mine had similar problems to yours, turns out the tensioner had broke and caused the cam belt to skip 2 teeth which bent the valves, also due to skiping 2 teeth the cam sensor was reading wrong.

There was a whole list of things.
It was saying coilpack, Leads etc which aren't the problem, they've been done!
Would taking the battery off for an hour help reset some of the codes that are no longer the problem?
I know on some cars that can reset varions things etc..

When you replaced leads did you replace in the correct order you never know, you can disconnect the battery for a few hours that will erase any stored fault codes then drive for a while and see if any fault codes are coming up again also the eml will come on to let you know a code has been recorded.
