isnt the power sound a small extra horn to alert you if someone disconnects the power from the battery to the car?

Yeah it is to do with the alarm and it won't effect the engine idling, if its fucked it will make the alarm randomly beep. Its prob just an engine sensor thats not working.

i dont know tbh not heard of one before today, the prob we have had is, we bought this corsa and it had been stood for 2 years, fetched it home and its been left for 3 weeks, went today to do some work on it, we tryed to start it using a power pack and as soon as we attached the power pack the alarm started to go off. also the led in the hazzard light switch was flashing like mad and all the hazzard lights was flashing even with ignition turned off. after we got the car started the alarm continued to sound and lights still flashed. if we stopped reving the car the car would cut out, any ideas anyone? i have been reading some threads and have come to the conclusion it has to be some thing to do with the power sounder? help anyone? PLEASE

Is this a corsa C?
Actually maybe the power sounder could effect the engine as it will have an immobiliser, as the car has been left for ages the battery in the power sounder is probably dead, the P.S is a sealed unit so you can either get a new one £60 abouts or rip the unit apart and fit a new battery then seal it again with silicon or something, this may sort it.

no its a corsa b 1.6 sport, the car starts so i dont think it could be the immobiliser as surely the car wouldnt start then?

can the engine be kept running or does it start and cut out straight away?

is the alarm on all the time? switch it off by locking the door with the key and unlock it.
It may just be that <<< or something simple like idle control valve.
