No mate,
You have to have an engineer report done on the car.
Basically saying the car has been coverted from this to this, and that the engine mounts are securing the engine to the car, brakes and suspension have been upgraded and the car is up to m.o.t standard.
New engine number and type of car it came out of

My mates just sent his back to them,he sent them the logbook with engine number, they sent him it back requiring an engineers report or a rac or aa inspection!
I have my engineer report in the car for the corsa, just waiting on the logbook coming for it so i can send it away.
Why do you ask?

Ive done 2 LET conversions now and they never asked for an engineers report or any other info, Just sent me back the log boox with the new engine number and size.
Then a few weeks later you get a bill to upgrade the remainder of the tax you have left on the car so you have to send them a cheque

i know this is a bit off the topic but i was just wondering do you tell the insurance about the engine? and if so what sort of prices are you paying to insure it with the new engine. Cheerz Ross

Yeah you have to tell the insurance, its expensive but not impossible to pay.
Think my first corsa LET was when I was 20 and it cost about £1500 TPFT with one claim from when I was 17. Adrian flux always worked out the best for me

kool mate cheerz. well i was going to do a conversion but tried to get insurance or a ruff price before i actually did it and as soon as i said it had an engine mod they didnt want to go near me. maybe because i am only18 but i drive a 1.8 corsa and it isn't that expensive for ensurance.

You could try adrian flux like I said but its going to cost a fair bit with you only being 18, doubt they would turn you away though.
As for the engineers report business it sounds like it could just be luck of the draw as to wether they ask for one or not

I've just received a new V5 and cover later stating I need a report doing before they can change the engine details.
Can a CPC qualified mechanic write out a letter on headed paper for me?

hi mate for mine i had to go to the dvla fill out my current logbook with all the changes, and then prove that the car has got the engine fitted via a receipt so they know its done properly, show thats its got a MOT. If you cant prove the engine is in the car then you will need a engineers report.
I had to do this all to change my tax over from a 1.2 to 2000cc and they will send you the logbook with all the changes that have been made.

Hi, when you say you had to go to the DVLA did you go to your local office?
I'm going to ask my garage to see if they'll do it for me. Although the car isn't MOT'd yet as i'm waiting to get the logbook then insure it then take it for MOT.
