I've just discovered by rear tyre has a slash aprox. 5mm on the inside wall causing it to leak . I can only presume it was glass?

Is it worth getting it repaired or not? If so how much are we talking?

Thanks,
George

most tyre places will only repair punctures in the center 75% of the tread.
damage to the sidewall can be repaired, but would have to be sent away for a specialist repair and normally costs a fair bit, so would only bother doing it to a newish expensive tyre.

Until one day, at 70 on the motorway, you hit a slight bump and the shock wave through the tyre causes it to explode and you go into a spin and die, taking out a family of 5.

Or you could carry on risking it for the sake of a tenner.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

a 5mm slash i dout it is repairable as a puncture plug is about the size of a heavy screw or nail,
if you got the slash repaired it will only get bigger even with a patch on it,

and the law will not let you repair a tyre on the inner edges or sidewalls as it weakens the structual strenght
i have a measuring graph at work to work out the 75% of the tyre to see if its in the zone or not
