right i know most of yous will laugh, but iam looking for advice on engine mods on a 1.2 8v 1995. already got a induction kit and exhaust on it but iam looking for some extra kick out of the sloww engine, was thinking a set of bike carbs would be pretty diffrent if it can be done ? or meby high lift cams? any helps would be appreciated.

and no i dont want to put a bigger engine in it , thanks again xxx

Honestly, you will be wasting money. There is a reason no-one modifies these engines. They are designed for wholly one purpose, and that is to be slow and economic. Why not stick a smaller engine in, like an R1 bike engine. 145bhp and it's a 1 litre

Change the "95 chip thing" (top left) to a 97 from an astra. No idea if it makes any differance but word on the grape vine is it does.

put a 1litre in, there quicker arnt they?

or a 1.4/1.6 engine, can get 1 for about £150 from scrappys if your lucky

thanks for the advice, would like to fit a 1.6 but want something rather diffrent.

how hard would fitting a r1 engine be? any ideas of a cost?

not sure pal, i would assume engine and gear box would take alot of modding, and wont be cheap.

not a back yard job if ya dont know what your doing

there was a 1.2 turbo lump on ebay a while back 145 bhp aprently

i think i seen that, or it might have been a car, but the ad said 145 odd proven on a dyno, then the printout only read 85

im sure you can spend some money on the 1.2 tho and turbo it and get some go results,
get the pistons machined out to lower the compression a bit, or a decompression plate ect,

make the engine safe then wind the boost up should show some good results

i wouldnt spend the money on modding a 1.2 bud
save up and get a new engine full stop
or a new car
