Hey, i have a corsa 1.6 sport running the X16XE block. Dont really know how its happened but part of the ceramic from the spark plug in cylinder one has snapped off and when i took the head off it looks like it has taken one or two stem valves with it. I'm not sure weather i should just go to the breakers and find a second hand head of a X16 or X14 or maybe just buy a kit to fully rebuild it; money is pretty low so just looking for some advice what would be the best option. Not sure if the ceramic piece is still in the block either.
Cheers, Matt.

umm may be jus easier to buy a head i think coz the price of the gaskets and seals etc and valves head maybe the better could possibly get away with replcing the 2 guides and valves but unsure

what you mean stem valves? doesnt really make sense?
it damaged the valve stems or the stem seals?
if moneys tight try and find a good known head, otherwise it may be worth having that head checked over and whatever needs replacing, replaced tbh

I'm guessing it's the valves themselves that are fucked?
Even if it is them or the valve stem seals, why not just get two new valves and/ or stem seals rather than rebuild the whole head if money's tight?
Would work out cheaper than a whole head I'd think.

Erm yea not the best at mechanices, but just took the car to local garage and there is no compression in cylinder 3 not 1, spoke to the bloke said will be between £12 - £500+ depending what part is wrong. So i was just thinking along the lines off; take head check if fucked fix valves etc, if not head scrap the block and get new one.

I'd get a new head personally.
Sparkplugs are easier to take out when the engine is hot.

Well i have no confidence in myself to remove the head, so prob will just take it back down to that garage and get it booked in. See i would do the test weher you put oil into the cylinder and if it then has compression i know its the piston thats knackered or valves but dont have a compression tester which kinda sucks.
