was driving home with my gf yesterday after a bit of shopping that im now regretting as going to find hard to afford to fix car, it started to sound a little different from exhaust then gradualy got louder and louder and lost power so i had to keep revs up to keep from cutting out, didnt over heat or anything.

tried to start it today and wasnt having any of it, did a compression test and 3rd and 4th cylinder are reasing no compression?????????????????????

Spark plugs recently changed, oil and filter, checked water for scum or oil and its clean, so is oil.

so any ideas anyone as i need car running asap not brilliant with engines, if anyone is local to HP16 Amersahm Bucks that could take a look would be great.

help!!!!!!!!!

no idea bought the car recently only 3 weeks or so ago. i was told retops are bullet proof engines by 1 mechanic then the other said they usually blow head gaskets or warpped or cracked heads that cause cylinders to drop compression?

He knows nothing about the car and didnt have it long, nor did the guy before him. also thought about what you said about checking leads and dizzy and thought that it cant be related to them as there more to do with spark where as the car is not generating any compression in 3rd or 4th cylinder so must be valves or something argggg but see what you think and take a look tomorrow thanks!

i had the same problem with my astra and it just turned out to be a badly blown head gasket lol, other wise it could be blowing past the rings, or a cracked head, or valves could be sticking open
