is there any way of increasing performance low down in the rev range on the x16xe engine.
at the moment there is very little performance before 4,000rpm where it kicks in.
at the moment the car is standard bar a de-restricted airbox and the bottom part on the arch side of the airbox has been taken out.
ive been looking at different inlet and exhaust manifolds and they all seem send the power higher up in the rev range but im after low down gunt.
like what you get from an 8valve. is there anything that can be done??

to be hounest my last car was a 1.6 8valve saxo and with it being an 8valve it had low down grunt.
my car before that was a 1.4 16v polo and that drove like an 8valve that just reved higher.
what causes the sudden boost in power at 4000rpm?
all i was woundering is if it is done by the ecu then could it be adjusted?

Tbh wen I built my old c16xe up I had 80mm pistons, lighten/balance, ported the head, inlet, stock airbox, and that would pul from 2k up to the limit, wel I hit it once bt that was it.

A 4-2-1 exhaust manifold might help as that will give you more mid-range power.
I think that from about 4k is when the inlets are fully open or something which is why the exhaust note will be louder and it'll pull more.
I may be making things up here, but you might be able to get some cams made to give you lower down power, but I'd have thought that this would be detrimental to higher end power. Don't quote me on that though!
