Car always had a noise since i finished rebuilding it. But it went to pvs nonetheless.
Ive solved one of the noises - new aux belt.
But there was still another noise present, i figured it was coming from the timing belt cover.
Took it off and the cover and it was oily 
Took the lower half off and that was just as bad if not worse
Any ideas why it would be oily in there?
From what ive read via google everyone says to replace the timing belt!? Again  ive only just done it

best option would be to remove the cover, clean up the oil thats sitting around and run the car to identify where the oil leak is coming from. if the belt is covered in oil then after you fix the oil leak i would advice to replace the belt again

What did you replace when you rebuilt the engine?
Did you fit the camshaft oil seals properly and crank oil seal?
Have you removed the oil pump at all?

Did head gasket, piston rings, sump, valve stem seals, cam cover gasket.
Didn't touch oil pump but I've read it could be that?

Oh right. So it could be knackered even though I've not touched it. Touched the oil pump that is.
Easy to replace?

Whats the sound like Marc? When I first ran mine the waterpump went and it knocked the timing out very slightly which made a tapping noise from the cambelt area. Might be worth checking to make sure everything is lined up right. Not too sure about the oil in there though mate

To replace the seal you'll have to take the belt and oil pump off, Remove the old seal and press a new one. Use a socket and tap it in with a hammer.
I'd clean off all the oil first and run it again to see if you can spot the source of the leak.

Oh right. Ill check that shaun. Its a sort of squealing noise, but also tapping as well - bit hard to describe. I thought the belt was catching because if I pressed on the casing the noise stopped but now I'm thinking maybe its the roller covered in oil that's noisey?

When I took one of the screws out holding on the lower case (the middle screw of the lot) it had a blob of fresh oil on the end

Well, went out and took it apart again, cleaned it down and rebuilt it.
Started it up and left it running, turned it off and evrything was coated in oil again
Had a look around and i think i figured where it was coming from.
There are two bolts on the sump that go in, tighten up and then go loose all of a sudden. They dont fully tighten.
Checked them and they were the same, the oil seemed to be coming from the gasket area by these two bolts - plus they are directly behind the bottom pulley - so could cause it??
Got some new sump bolts to replace the old/current ones and the new bolts did the same as the old ones. Its as if the oil pump runs out of thread
Any ideas?
Im going to try a longer bolt in the hole to see if that does anything, if not, re-tap it?
If still not, new oil pump!?

If can remember correctly these will be the bolts that go into the bottom of oil pump and i am pretty sure that that are meant to be longer than the rest of the sump bolts.
You could try using threadlock on them aswell?

ohhh, youre right yeah on the location.
But if theyre longer then where did i put the longer ones 
Thread lock wouldnt work i dont think because the bolts dont tighten enough to clamp the seal down, if you get me?
