I just did the upgrade but it doesnt seem to have done anything.

Looks exactly the same, but both the phone and itunes says its now on version 4.0

Any ideas?

I am staying on 3.1.2 due to the stories of V4 rendering the 3g phones sluggish.

You just get folders on the 3G. I couldn't notice anything else extra, probably due to the 3G only having 128mb of RAM and that being insufficient to do anything quickly these days

I upgraded mine via JB and it put on user background, battery percentage and multi tasking. Not that was slow

Disabled all of the above so only folders is active, and it still slow.

Mine is hideously slow.

Must be phasing out the 3G like they did the iPhone (Took me a minute to remember they did the original iPhone). Pretty short shelf life really. What was it? three years?

3 Years is quite a long time to keep the same phone in this age. Plus apple get to make more money by giving people no choice but to upgrade.
