Pretty much every time I use the Facebook app on my Blackberry 8520 it brings up the little loading icon and just freezes for a good 2 minutes or so. Does anyone know what this is or any way to resolve the problem?

I don't know what the problem is, but have you tried removing and re installing the app?

leave ur phone switched on and do the following

1- take battery, sim and memory card out
2- count to 10
3- put memory card back in, then sim, then battery

this reboots the phone and resets the software so it should work then for u

That or don't use the app and just use the Facebook mobile site through the phone browser.

Phone browser works better than the app. The app is shit.

Sorted it now, uninstalled all 3rd party apps and reinstalled now it's fine.
