Coolant not getting hot

Lack of coolant

Ah cheers Ian, The owner seems to think its the water pump? I have my doubts though!

I had one before with this engine so know they can be pretty decent. Will give it a try, cheers

Brilliant, so if the heaters are blowing out cold but the temp gauge reads normal it could be something simple?

Temp guage can't be completely trusted as it may be somewhere where the system is hot.

Water pump failure may still indicate normal running temp on the dash.

You need to feel the pipes ideally.

Water pump failure would see the temperature going off the scale I'd have thought?

Aye I wasn't sure, just figured it'd cause the water to boil up. Thought the steam would reach the temp sensor and read as dead hot.

Not doubting it or anything but how would it not show up?

Luke warm could simply be that the engine isn't getting hot enough although it's more likely to be air in the system.

Answer to the temp sensor not reading problems is that it doesn't measure the entire system so lack of pressure/circulation may not be apparent.

Might identify it - but you also can't trust it 100%.
