As stated in my other topic I bought Wilson's old corsa a week ago.
On the weekend I tried swoping headunits to a newer Alpine one which charges ipods but the ipod sceen wouldn't come up on the headunit even though the ipod was charging through the headunit!
As this didnt work I put the old headunit in. Since i've done this everytime I turn the volume up, the amp switches off and as the speakers are amp I end up with no sound. I've checked the earth etc and all seem to be ok.
I'm totally lost with this, electrics arn't my strong point! I dont really fancy trailing through every cable in the car to see if 1 has been snagged
Any ideas people??

If it's related to volume my guess would be the amp is cutting out when you're overloading the inputs.
Are you using phono pre-outs or speaker level input on the amp?

Phonos shouldn't enable it to cut out.
I did have a similar thing with an amp years ago which was just faulty, contacts on the board were loose, needed taking apart and resoldering.
Have you got another you can swap in to test the wiring is OK?
