hi guys..hope someone can shed some light on this problem.
my wife has a corsa sport 96, x14xe..
it has an intermitant fault.
one day it will run perfect..next it runs like its overfueling.
now.at no point do i get a management light.
plugs and exhaust go sooty black, and it miss fires and runs rough, and smells..i get rough revs..and the idle goes too 1100rpm..
car is super hard to start..and wont rev smooth..it will cough and fart and pop through the exhaust.
this can last a day..then all of a sudden, the engine note changes..idle drops to 950rpm...then its sweet again.
ive took the throttle body off,and cleaned it all inc the idle control valve..
all pipes are fine..
please can anyone offer some suggetions.
thanks
si

about 8 weeks ago fella..
it had new plugs, oil, oil filter, air, fuel. pollen too..plus coolant flush..
could the egr valve cause these problems?
just seems with the plugs and exhaust getting sooted,im saying its over fueling intermitantly...which is causing it to run rough

Try replacing the cts.
Check for air leaks around inlet area with a tin of carb cleaner whilst running.
My saxo had exact same symptoms. Found an airleak on the inlet manifold and exhaust manifold.
