Discuss....... lol

Your views after some fast road cams for a x16xe what would be the best:

Duration
Lift
Etc
To run on standard pistons, pullys and management

Cams are going in to a x18xe1 heard most lift you can get is 10mm before piston to valve contact is this true ?

Been told to get 256 degree and 9.45 lift

What are your thoughts

Cheers hodgy

dont know much on them engines mate, but go for it. going to help a mate up the road put one in a nova gte soon. the poor shell has sat in his garden for too long now...

wouldn't the management be a hell of an upgrade for similar price on them though?

Its lift thats main prob with stock pistons, u can hav 288dur bt only 9.5, 10mm etc lift.

U cud run a 264dur + 10mm lift, just do a dummy build...find out stock cam specs, then pt plasticine on crown, time up + c wot clearance is. I.e. Stock cam 9mm lift, clearance with stock piston pockets 3mm, u cud run a 10.5mm lift cam and have the recommended minimum of 1.5mm pis-valve clearance.

Blanks are beta than reprofiled, reprofiled cams can lead to lifters jacking up or bursting.
