anybody got any tips or tricks on removing the caliper piston? i have brand new piston seals to go in so thats not a problem just want to know best way of getting it out and is it a pain in the ass to get back in? cheers

i may be totally wrong here mate so may be worth asking a second opinion but a reply is better than none lol

im sure to do it you can remove the brake pipe union/banjo connection off the caliper and put an air line blower in the hole with a rag around to give it a bit of a seal and apply high pressure from the blower whilst keeping your hand over the piston to catch it as it pops out, as said i think this works but hope this helps

Me and Ash used a vice to push it in then a g clamp to push it back out.

unbolt the caliper from the car, press the brake, and the piston will pop out.

That would do the trick but you need to be careful that you dont eject all of your brake fluid in one hit. If you remove the pads and gently compress the brake pedal until nearing the end of teh pistons travel you should be able to get some grips on the piston and pull it the rest of the way out once you have removed the caliper.

doesnt really matter tbh.


If refurbing the calipers it would be a good time to change the fluid also

But you dont want to run the master cylinder dry.
