No priming bulb under the bonnet? Can take ages to get through. If you have an airline at work, blow air into the tank and disconnect the fuel line at the pump. Keep blowing untill you get fuel

Same with my MK4 Astra Estate 1.7TD. Keep turning it over for a few mins, should fire up before the battery goes flat!

Yes but only do it in 10sec bursts as you'll wreck the starter motor.
I'd crack the injectors off one at a time and turn it over until you get diesel coming out of each one.

Get more diesel.
Parents fuel gauge broke and run right out. Tried £5 can no luck, needed another can and started instantly

Squeeze the priming bulb a few times to fill the filter with fuel, then try starting.

This. My cousion did the same on his Mk4 van. There is no priming bulb. Take lid off filter housing and fill with diesel.
I started it on the key but had to fill filter housing a few times before it fired.

stick 2 cans worth in, crank it over with the accelerator on the floor, it will go eventually.
take a while sometimes.
Wouldnt bother trying to fill the filter, as it'll just the the diesel out of the filter then cut out again.

Wouldnt bother trying to fill the filter, as it'll just use the diesel out of the filter then cut out again.

Yeah why would you bother trying to fill the filter? Just keep cranking it over, happened on my Ibiza, the handbook told me it was self bleeding!

filling the filter is the first thing you do to get the air out the pipes and it will start in a couple minutes if you slacken the injector pipes. Youll need a jump start or battery pack if you just put fuel in and crank for ages and ages
