Just had someone come up the part ex a clio against a 307 SW i have; car looked good until I took the oil cap off. Was really gunky similar to this

I initially thought head gasket; but opened teh coolant and no presure or smell of petrol etc.. He said he had it looked at and was told it was condensation build up where there is no oil breather pipe and it only does short runs. Looking online seems to back that up but im just not sure if im honest.

Anyone seen this much before or know if its common in 02 Clio 1.2 16v?

white smoke, oil in the coolant, milky oil, milky oil on the dipstick, heaters blowing cold when on hot only ways to tell, unless you get a sniff test on the coolant

Condensation is a high possibility . People instantly think head gaskets gone

I've had a few vauxhalls which looked the same. I put it down to condensation and ran well for years after that.

it is extreamly common on clios that are 1.2 16v mate unlike the 1.2 8v witch tend to suffer from head problems from experiance

best way to sort the problem is when/if you have it take it for a long run for about an hour or so that should sort the problem out

Very common problem on clios especially the 1.216v models due to using a plastic rocker which condensates on short journey's so as Liam has said the best advise is to take it for a long drive every now and then to clear out a little bit.

IMO it was a Renault design fault by not using a breather of some sort in the rocker
