took my car for mot today and failed on emissions its a c14nz with mods are pipercross cone filter sportex middle section and peco 5x4 oval backbox. its saying lambda sensor fail but its functioning fone as its brand new no eml on the dash no codes stored in ecu. the mot tester said it could be due to the large bore on the back box as their are no leaks in the exhaust system. i have fitted my standard back box on to see if it makes a difference but i thought i would ask you guys for advice thanks p.s sorry about the long essay

lambda reading was 1.041 and its a newish cat and new lambda sensor they said it could be due to lesser restriction in the exhaust making it pull in more oxygen ?

Sometimes removing a restiction from the exhaust interferes with scavanging and draws to much oxygen threw the exuast thats what a mate has just said

Max lambda reading is 1.03 is it not?? If so, then your not that far off.

Stick some Optimax or another high octane pump fuel in, some Redex fuel system cleaner, and take it for a good spanking before MOT. Should bring it down quite a bit. Have done that more times than i can remember and it works a treat.

This would have been the best way to get it down

Redex fuel treatment, let the revs get high for a while to get all the carbon broken up and out of the system.
