Looking around at car shows and project threads i have noticed that loads of XE corsas have had the slam panel chopped out and replaced by a fibreglass item. I was wondering why people did this, i like the idea of it as im moving to bonnet pins anyway. But does it make the actual coversion easier to have the slam panel out of the way? When i removed the engine i dropped it out the bottom but it may be going back in from above.

It's not too bad to get around the slam panel.

It's a personal choice Cal, prob helps when your cars as modified as Ron's drag monster.
but on a C20XE don't think it matters that much.

like said above , its done to get acces to parts as i couldent take my manifold of with out the pannel coming of , but for a xe you will be fine

on my xe it makes it loads better at getting at certin bits at the front and a bit more weight gone too
