If you drive your car hard a lot reving it hard to about 6,000RPM...Does it nacker your car, clutch, gear box.....should it make it less reliable? Cheers

if you warm the car up to operating temp first and give it careful love and attention and change the oil and filter regularly.... it should be fine... maybe better than a granny who only revs to 3,000rpm.

well since i got my mantzel power box my power band has moved to 5000rpm + i still got a limiter and in the space of 2 months driving round at these rpm's its fooked my engine completely getting a new one in 2 weeks fully rebuilt

Greasemonkey: had it already done allot of miles... and was your oil in need of a change?

Or do you do ALLOT of miles at 5,000rpm?

I always warm mine up toot around and then give it a good ol' blast.....Think I might have nackered it!!

why do u think that, cars are made for this as long as the oil is protecting (hot), and as long as the engine is in good order in the first place, i rev mine all the time to 3k RPM, most of the time to 4k RPM and occasionally to 5kRPM and i have never redlined it.

I let the car warm up then blast it 20 miles to work every day so i aint really suprised its happened, you get to 5000rpm and smoke apperars out the back!!!!. Also to be fair the engines just about to tick over 100'000, but i change the oil like all the time and the filters it gets a proper good service, buying the re-built engine off some one, it cost him £1400 to have done but a lifter went and it needs repairing so i am having it for £500 just swap my cams over and get new lifters. This blokes getting rid due to a 2.0 conversion

My car doesn't mind getting a blating as long as it is not in first gear... I love pulling out on trafic and accelerating to 30MPH as quick as i can in 1st gear....my car hates this!.....

How do you know your car hates this?
