So as you all know my Corsa is a big waste of fcuking money. Big pile of shit imo. But I have no choice but to get it running.
So it's been with Vauxhall since this morning because it keeps cutting out.
Now WTF is this about?
They tell me the reason it cuts out is because of my speedometer? Thats the thing that tells me I am doing 10mph etc?
This is causing my heap to cut out? HOW?
They wanna charge me £230 for a new one and labor!

They tell me it's a sensor? Didn't know there were any in the clocks?
Catch 22 - It's an Sri so I need a dash with rev counter - rare
Can't get to scrappy before it closes cuz of car
Gonna have to cough up the money I was saving for colour coded things.

SRi clocks are not rare, they used the same clocks in gls cd & tigra models
place a request on here, and i bet you get a set of clocks

i was able to get a set of power steering pipes for a 1991 16v golf, and they are hens teeth

Speed sensor is on top the gearbox. It can't be the actual dial set causing it to cut out. You can remove the complete dial set from the Corsa and it will still drive fine.
I had my entire instrument pod out for almost a week before putting the digital dash in.
If you do need a dial set (which I doubt very much) I have my old ones for grabs, but mine are electronic and I assume your speedo is cable fed?

They are wankin you off big time, take it to another garage other than vauxhall and get them to give you another quote, its probly just a dodgy sensor that will cost you bout £30 to replace.

Just looked in ye old Haynes manual.
Reckons the vehicle speed sensor (the thing that is fcuked) is part of the speedometer assembly and 'no seperate components can be obtained and must be brought as a whole unit'
Lets take bets lads on what fcuks up next on my car / shed.
AND IF VAUXHALL SCRATCH MY NEW PERSPEX DIAL COVER (I FITTED IT A FEW WEEKS BACK) I WILL CRY LIKE A LITTLE GIRL

I agree with the above, Vaux dealers will screw you for every penny they can get, regardless of wether a part needs changing or not.

Then I guess its a 1.4 SOHC? Your right, it looks like early models have it as part of the speedo. You don't need to buy a complete clock set, just a new speedo unit ie. just the clock. This will probably cost silly money from Vauxhall, best route is to find an early model in a breakers and just remove the speedo unit. Even buying a 2nd hand complete unit will save you loads of £££

Probably
Symptons -
Cuts out when braking hard
Normal driving / roll into neutral then it cuts out
Never cuts out when giving it gas / only when slowing down?
And sometimes it NEARLY cuts out?

look in haynes manual and look up air control valve/ air bypass valve and see where in engine it is. it is most likely to be a little black thing on the side of the inlet manifold or somehwre around there that has a plug coming out of it . undo the plug and undo the two screws that hold it in , then squirt quite a bit of carb and injector cleaner in to it untill it is clean then refit this should stop it cutting out

Vauxhall garage told me that my sensor was f=cked but it was just a wire burnt out leading to the box so take it else, they were wanting £290 at Vaux but paid £40 at the other garage

Got a call this morning.
They fitted the new clock / sensor. And they say it's made no difference. Still exactly the same. My case is now in the hands of the Vauxhall technical department. I feel so special
