Does anyone know what hose to use as it comes out of the engine at a different angle than my old 1.6 engine?

I think a 1.0ltr 12v top rad hose fits. (I dont know for sure) or one of those flexible ribbed things.

Just out of interest also, but what sort of radiator is best fit?

heard of some people saying one from a turbo diesel is a good choice as its quite a large rad, but other people say stick with a gsi rad

I've used the gsi rad, I moved the end where the top hose is further under the slam panel so the fan clears the exaust and i've never had any problems with it getting hot.

I was thinkin about trying to mount the fan infront of the rad instead of behind it, but guess a fair bit of work may be involved to do this
