Last week i managed to make a hole in the rad causing water to leak from the side.Ive scrapped that and bought a secound hand rad from "just vauxhalls" in warrington.no leaks, but...everytime i go to the water tank it seams empty when the engine is idle...as soon as i start the car water comes up.If ive been out driving the car ill hear gushing noises coming form the water tank, when i go to inspect it the water is right to the top of the tank tryin to escape....when i take the top off the water goes down last week very hot water was gushing out everywhere all over the engine when i took the top off. no other problems with the car engine etc.Is this a rad problem....or could it be the headgasket? this never happened with the old rad

sounds like an airlock in the water system.
to get rid of it, fill the expantion tank with water, run the engine, keep topping up the tank as the level drops, (keeping the cap off the tank all the time)
run engine. at high idle (about 2-3k)
wait till the water bubbles over (be careful, its fookin hot!)
turn engine off. wait till the coolant is cold (overnight is best)
check water level is correct, top up if needed.
air lock should be gone!
