ive started notice lately that after a few days there seems to be alot of pressure build up in my water system.... so much so that you can see the rad pipes are inflated and are hard if i sqeeze them....

i can realise the presure buy opening the header tank cap...

i dunno if these problems are related but this morning when i got out of the car in the carpark at work i was greeted with what i thought was smoke pouring out of the bonnet.....

it was only steam though... water seems to be leaking from somewere and landing in the exhaust.... i have a good idea were that might be so i can fix that... but is the pressure buildup normal

mine builds up pressure that if i open the cap even when its cold it 'dumps' (kinda sound)

but the pipes dont swell up...

could be your hoses are worn or just old & tired???

can you run the car with no thermostat? i would say yes it summer...

Mine makes a hissing noise, then I discovered the cap was'nt done up tight.

i was thinking that the smoother flow of water without the thermstat will give me a 20BHP power increase... whoooooooooo... clever am i

i found that relocating the old thermo to the bin added at least 25-30 bhp, car started better and return better mpg too... odd that

I have no thermostat in my X14XE. Still get same fuel consumption and hasn't effected it in any way, never runs above 90 degrees though.

It just means that the engine will not reach the correct running temperature because the flow is constant and not controlled.

i'll wipp it out later.... had to use the GF's car this morning... when i drove home yesterday in my car again the bottom rad hose was inflated by the time i got home...

opened the header tank cap and it went back to normal... so deffo a blockage of some sort...

no not at all which is my i couldnt figure it out..... although ive only done two 20-30 minute motorway drives since this problem has started....

When I had an airlock the temp shot up within 5-10mins.

Change the coolant and give the hoses a good wiggle then put the cap on the header tank.

the coolant is 1-2 months old.... i deffo think its the thermo...
