gave it a jump start and it was fine for few weeks... But now that my insurance has run out, i dont drive anymore, i start it up every 2-3 days but it keeps going flat, but all it needs is a jump start to start up!???
*********************************
ok now its really bad, it goes flat with in 6 hours of jump starting it of another car!!!
just want to make sure it is the battery that is bad and not the alternator?????
ive had it for less than a year... so should the gaurantee cover it??? bearing in mind it was my fault that it got drained in 1st place because left the stereo on for ages with out engine on???

or a bad earth somewhere / short in the loom...
tis happening to my GSi too, if I leave it for a week at most, it drains the whole battery...
mind, this was before I had to rewire most the loom behind the dash cos it all went fizz-bang-smoke so maybe that was my problem

forgot to mention.... my alternator is bit dodgy!
it makes a screeching sound upon start up for 2-3mins while idleing, but its been doing this for 4-5 months! the battery only went flat a month ago coz i drained it by leaving stereo on for ages with out the engine on!???
so what you guys reckon???

check your aux drivebelt - may be lose so causing the screetch & meaning the alt will not be charging properly...
or could be dry bearings in the alt, but then they should do it all the time & not just the first 2-3mins

Knackered the battery, if ya run them flat they usually dies soon after, take it to a motor spares shop they will test it for free

You should take your car to get its electrics checked, this way it can tell you what is draining your battery so quickly

Your battery is fucked. Mine did the same when I was away in Canada, you should get a new one and keep the earth disconnected while you are not using the car...

warranty wont cover it.
To test if its the alternator, while the car is running, make sure NOTHING is turned on inside the car, take one of the battery terminals off the battery. If the car stops running, its your alternator at fault.

does it make a difference "Which Terminal" i take of the battery and for "How Long" i take it of??? because say the alternator is working but not at its maximum, so might take longer for engine to cut out maybe???
and why will the gaurantee not cover it??
will a Halfords heavy duty battery be ok??
the one i got now is also a heavy duty, somthing like 55ahr or some thing??
